Does a travel eSIM work on a cruise?
A land-based travel eSIM may connect in covered countries when the ship is near port, but it does not automatically include the vessel’s satellite or maritime mobile network. Offshore service and pricing can be separate.
Before you go
Compare the provider’s country list with your ports and ask the cruise operator about onboard connectivity. Turn off data roaming at sea unless you understand the applicable charges and plan terms.
- Check that every country on your trip appears in the coverage list.
- Read the plan validity and the event that starts its clock.
- Treat local-currency displays as estimates; the checkout USD amount is the amount charged.
If the instructions don’t match your phone
Inventory, coverage and activation rules can change. Read the terms attached to the exact package at checkout, and save a copy for your trip.
