Avoid unexpected home-line roaming charges
Dual-SIM phones can keep more than one line available, but call, text, voicemail and data roaming charges are controlled by each carrier. A data-only travel plan usually does not replace your home number.
Before you go
Set the travel profile as the data line when instructed, review roaming for both lines and check your home carrier’s prices. On arrival, verify which line is selected before using data.
- Check the selected line separately for calls, messages and mobile data.
- If your home line stays on, ask your carrier about roaming charges first.
- Confirm hotspot and APN rules in the plan’s own setup notes.
If the instructions don’t match your phone
Phones handle two active lines differently. The mobile-data line can be separate from the line used for calls or messages, and some settings vary by model and carrier.
